Service is an essential part of my role as residential faculty at SCC. It is how I demonstrate care, build trust, and cultivate a thriving, supportive environment for everyone I work with and teach. I am committed to supporting students, faculty, staff and our surrounding community by advocating for their needs, contributing to college-wide initiatives, and creating opportunities for engagement and expression. Through active participation in institutional work, offering comprehensive student advising and creative contributions to program activities, I help strengthen the sense of connection, collaboration, and shared purpose across our campus. Ultimately, my philosophy of service is a commitment to action. It is about showing up, speaking up, and creating opportunities for growth and connection.

Over the past three years, I initially struggled to recognize my contributions as formal “service,” largely because many of my activities were embedded within the leadership roles I held. It wasn't until I began to differentiate between what was officially compensated and what extended beyond those duties that I could truly reflect on the breadth of my service. I’ve come to see that, for me, leadership is service in action, which is why those boundaries often felt blurred.
During this period, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with faculty, staff, administration, and community partners, including the City of Scottsdale. These experiences have deepened my understanding of employee relations, Intergovernmental Agreements, Interest-Based Negotiation, and large-scale software implementation. I’ve also worked closely with students on creative projects and helped them map out their educational paths. While I may not yet know exactly how these diverse experiences will shape my future contributions, I am confident they have prepared me for continued, meaningful service within and beyond the college community.
