Karryn Allen has been teaching and choreographing in the Phoenix area since 2002. An alumni of Scottsdale Community College (SCC), she holds an AAFA in Dance as well as a BA in Secondary Dance Education from Ottawa University and a MFA in Dance from Arizona State University. Karryn is currently Residential faculty at SCC and the Co-director of the SCC Dance Program. As a dancer, Karryn has worked with choreographers and instructors from around the country including but not limited to Abby Fiat, Keith Johnson, K.T. Nelson, and William (Bill) Evans and has choreographed for theater productions in the valley. Her current interests include the investigation of effective dance pedagogy from a somatic and mindful approach as well as how to prepare students for success in the gig economy.
